Aeriel view of the crowd at the Mark Twain House
One of the most charming and unique aspects of Hartford – at least for a self professed literary nerd like myself – is the Mark Twain House and Museum on Farmington Ave. Not only is there Samuel Clemens’ family home – restored with period detail and available for touring – but there is a great reception/museum space that is a terrific venue for a party. So I was happy to hear that we were hosting our annual Best of Hartford party – to celebrate the winner of our readers’ poll – at this location on April 30th.
Plus there were some fantastic opportunities for cheesy photo opps with the man himself, Mr. Twain
In addition to food and bevvies provided by Emily’s Catering, there were some great local libations courtesy of our friends at:
City Steam – congrats on winning Best Local Beer and also, sweet bottle! The private reserve was delicious.
Krust – who won Best New Bar! The “southern yellow” bourbon cocktail was so good and just right for spring.
Thanks also to HDI for donating Bud Light and microbrews, as well as the Willimantic Brewing Company for pouring. And of course – a big thank you as always to NoRa Cupcakes for killing it with an awesome assortment of mini-cupcakes, as usual
And also winning Best Cupcake for the second year in a row – woot! And the dulce de leche cupcake – I can’t even talk about it right now
Congrats on winning Best Local Band again – well deserved
A full photo gallery of the attendees and the winners is up on ctnow.com at the following link.
Here’s a nice shot from the gallery of my husband and I with my boss’ wife, Suzi Tremaine (pictured left), and Camille Stinton of the Hartford Courant.

Best of Hartford season isn’t quite over yet – there is the Hartford Magazine party approaching on June 20th at the Hartford Public Library. Tickets will be on sale for that event, and I recommend you check it out as the Magazine does an amazing job with their parties, always! xoxo have a great weekend everyone
